Doxology

August 16, 2023 - Kenya

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow

Brenda Wiesen was a special person. She went to high school with Bill Farrar, our illustrious leader and was married to Chris who is on the team with us. She was very excited about the water ministry of Fountains of Hope and helped with the Hues of Blue Galas. She and Chris even had paid their deposit to be on this trip.

Today we dedicated a tank in her memory at Osiri Primary school near Kisumu Kenya. She succumbed to cancer that everyone prayed she would beat. She and Chris had even just bought a house in Florida to enjoy his new retirement. But it’s not what God had in mind.

Bill brilliantly suggested all the students sing the Doxology. Richard, our local liaison, stepped in and led 20 people including the students in a rendition never to be duplicated. Richard should sign up for Kenya’s Got Talent.

Praise Him, all creatures here below.

Many dozens of people donate to make each of these trips possible and we always try to recognize and honor the larger gifts, even though all are important. In this case for me it brought to mind the two systems we have dedicated in the memory of each of my sisters. It can’t help but to bring a tear. It’s a time to pause and remember. Then we wrap up and move on knowing a little piece of Kenya is made better because of someone who went before us.

Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host.

Right now we are trying to diagnose a problem with our vehicle on a 2 hour trip to another installation site. Fortunately we are in a town and not out in the bush so we have access to a mechanic. Fast forward an hour and a half, the bent pin and front brake pads are replaced, outdoors, with rocks holding the van up and traffic whizzing by on a main drag. It cost us 3500ks, about $27.00.

So goes Kenya, so goes the Sacred Dance.

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
